2007 Education Leadership Award Dinner
In Honor of Roger Agnelli, President & CEO of CVRD, and Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman & CEO of GE
On June 11, 2007, Worldfund honored Roger Agnelli and Jeffrey Immelt at its third annual Education Leadership Award Dinner. The event took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City, and was attended by over 450 guests. Renata Camargo Nascimento, of the Camargo Correa Group, and Claudio X. González Laporte, Chairman and CEO of Kimberly Clark de México, S.A. de C.V., presented the awards to the honorees.
Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Agnelli and Mr. Immelt, and to the outpouring of support from all those involved, Worldfund raised over $1.8 million for its education projects throughout Latin America, and particularly in Brazil.
The event also featured two students from the Fernand Braudel Institute's Reading Circles program, one of Worldfund’s education partners in São Paulo, Brazil. In their testimonies, Aline Verneck da Silva and Fernanda de Carvalho Cirilo described how education transformed their lives.
Another highlight of the evening was the auction of Romero Britto's painting "World and Education." The renowned Brazilian pop artist painted the beautiful piece specifically for the Award Dinner.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone whose participation helped make the evening a great success!
