Worldfund hosted its Seventh Annual Education Leadership Award Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York City on June 7th. We honored Emilio Azcárraga Jean, Chairman and CEO, Televisa; Roberto Civita, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Grupo Abril; and Jim O’Neill, Chairman, Goldman Sachs Asset Management for their incredible commitment to education as a powerful tool for reducing poverty and fueling economic growth in Latin America.
The Award Dinner was completely sold out, and 470 U.S. and Latin American business and education leaders attended in support of Worldfund and the honorees. We are thrilled to report that the event raised over $1.7 million for Worldfund's programs.

Emilio Azcárraga Jean, Jim O'Neill, and Roberto Civita at the Worldfund Education Leadership Award Dinner
Alexia Paula da Silva Mendonça, a public high school student from Recife, Brazil, shared her experiences as a participant in Worldfund’s STEM Brasil program. She described how the program completely changed her views on science and math as subjects, and has inspired her to pursue an engineering career. Read her speech here.
