New Sports Field at Mano Amiga Puebla
The family of Carlos and Martha Labarthe is deeply committed to improving the quality of education and the lives of very poor children in Mexico. During 2010, the family carried out an extensive fundraising campaign among friends and family in order to build a sports field at the Mano Amiga School in Puebla.
Construction was completed in November 2010, and by December the children from the primary and pre-school students were already using it to play soccer and exercise. This field has contributed in an important way to improving the quality of life of the students of Mano Amiga Puebla.
After a recent teacher-student game, Roberto Tecocoatzi of Grade 5 said: “It was very nice to play with our teachers because we know that besides being our instructors, they are also our friends."
The Mano Amiga School in Puebla, with 560 students, uses a pedagogical model that emphasizes the development of the student as an integral human being, with the aim of supporting students so that they can finish school and continue their studies at the university level.
