goals

Worldfund trains and supports public school principals in Mexico currently serving in primary and secondary schools, in instructional, transformational, and organizational leadership. Through a combination of workshops and coaching, LISTO promotes a profound shift in school culture based on a shared belief of mutual responsibility for student success. Our vision is to foster leaders who create effective learning environments that value teachers, parents, and the community in improving student learning outcomes.

program description

In 2011-2012, the school leadership program is a three-year (230-hour) intensive course of study. The program is structured in three stages. In the first stage, principals participate in a 5-day summer induction course (42 hours) focused on team building and leadership. This week is followed by a 9 month course of study(180 hours) in which principals attend 9, two-day workshops that provide training in strategic planning, school management best practices and transformative leadership.
In the second year, Worldfund Coaches supportthe principals as they bridge theory and practice, engage in continuous evaluation of their leadership skills, and implement strategic plans. Principals are provided coaching in both group and individual settings (54 hours),including a site visit to each principal's school.
In year three, principals participate in workshops on selected topics and communicate with coaches and with one another virtually via an online platform.
The program is administered on a state-by-state basis, and accommodates 50 principals per course.

impact

Since LISTO was launched in 2009, Worldfund has brought the program to 493 principals in four states: Guerrero, Veracruz, Nuevo Leon, and Chiapas. These 493 principals are affecting change that impacts over 135,000 students.
