Summer 2007
Volume 4, Issue 2

Dear All,

Thanks to your support, Worldfund just closed its 4th full fiscal year on June 30th having invested over $1.6 million in schools and education projects in eight Latin American countries over the past year.  Since our December 2002 founding, Worldfund has made education investments totaling over $3.1 million, directly impacting 30,000 Latin American students.  With your help, we hope to invest $2 million in schools and education projects in this new fiscal year.

Many of you participated in our Education Leadership Award Roger Agnelli, Renata Camargo, Jeff Immelt, Luanne Zurlo, Claudio Gonzalezdinner on June 11th, in honor of Roger Agnelli and Jeffrey Immelt, and for this we are greatly appreciative. Like last year, the dinner was a sell-out and we raised over $1.8 million, much of which is being invested in Worldfund's education work in Brazil.  Renata Camargo Nascimento and Claudio X. Gonzalez Laporte introduced our two Honorees, and two students from our Sao Paulo partner, Circulos de Leitura, gave moving testimonies describing how participation in this program changed their lives.

I just returned from Hanover, NH, where our second two-week Dartmouth/Rassias Teacher Training Program for Mexican educators took place.  Virtually all of the 20 Mexican educators commented that the program will profoundly impact how they teach going forward. We plan to expand the program next summer with our Mexican partners, Nextel Mexico and Fundacion Televisa.

I also had the opportunity to spend time with our US partner, Better World Books, at its huge warehouse in South Bend, IN.  Thanks to BWB's university, library and corporate book drives on behalf of Worldfund, we are starting to receive meaningful financial support.  We also receive funds from BWB for purchases made through online referrals from our website, so we encourage you to make your next new and used book purchases via the link on Worldfund's homepage.

We thank you for your support as we near our five-year anniversary.  Truly, you are transforming young lives throughout Latin America.

Warmest regards,
