OCTOBER 2006 | MARIA TERESA
Maria Teresa is an artistically talented six-year-old student at one of World Education & Development Fund’s partner
schools in Mexico. This picture was taken in Maria Teresa’s neighborhood on her walk home from school.
Maria Teresa's parents were married when they were 14 and 16 years old. Her father began delivering newspapers when he was eight years old and continues to do so for 13 hours a day to support his family.
Maria Teresa's parents devote their resources to the education of their children. They recognize the power that education has to help individuals rise up out of poverty. Because of donations from generous individuals in the United States and Latin America, Maria Teresa's parents are able to send four of their children to a high-quality school for the cost of one child's tuition.
Maria Teresa and the other students at World Education & Development Fund's partner schools are an endless source of inspiration and hope for the Worldfund team and its supporters.
