Worldfund and NII Holdings, Inc. ring the NASDAQ opening bell
The morning after our gala, Tuesday, June 10th, Worldfund and NII Holdings jointly rang the opening bell for the NASDAQ at an exciting ceremony; we were joined by about 30 Board members, partner representatives and staff. We are grateful to NASDAQ and NII Holdings for the invitation and opportunity.
The NASDAQ universe of companies is known as dynamic, transparent and forward-looking. Worldfund can be described with similar adjectives - the Worldfund family is energized to make a difference, is also held accountable and is certainly forward-looking given its belief that education transforms lives. Our Board of Directors and our staff all have business expertise and backgrounds and bring that discipline and need for transparency and accountability to Worldfund.
Worldfund's growth management strategy calls for continued investments in our three strategic program areas throughout Latin America - private schools catering to underprivileged children; after school science and math programs targeting impoverished and gifted youth; and, teacher and principal training. Over the next seven years we are projecting to reach 250,000 children in Latin America, up significantly from our current level of 30,000. This level of outreach will require $50 million in financing from Worldfund. In order to fulfill this ambitious goal we will need to secure the support of many individual benefactors and corporate partners, like NII Holdings. We can do this, if we do it together.
